Returning to her faithful Simple Sew Shannon Shorts pattern, Corrine of Appleby Makes, whips up this fun candy pink pair, perfect for the holidays. Read the full review below!
When it was time to decide on our Simple Sew make this month (by this month I mean July!), it was a very easy decision. We had some lovely hot weather and I wanted more shorts. I’m going through a bit of a pink phase at the moment and I had some stretch pink denim left over from another project that I thought would make perfect Shannon Collection shorts.
I’ve used this pattern before and you can read that here. They were a success too!
I like this pattern a lot because the shorts fit straight from the envelope and I’m too lazy to play around with the fit. I also like the big pockets. So much of women’s clothing have pockets that you can barely fit any money in, let alone a phone or purse. These do!
I made no adjustments to the pattern at all, but I decided to omit the decorative buttons on the front. My original pair of Shannon shorts have silver buttons on the front, and I decided I didn’t need them on both pairs. I don’t regret that decision as I think these shorts look great and they have had multiple wears already. I just hope the weather holds so I can wear them again before our summer holidays are over!
So, I don’t think I need any more shorts for now. It’s not like they get that much wear in our climate really! However, I would like to try the trouser version of the pattern soon. I think they would make great work trousers!
See you next time.
