Happy November everyone!
I’ve not been sewing for a while, as I was away for a month on tour with my band, so when I finally got back to my machine I needed a nice, simple palette cleanser to get back into the swing of things and to kick start my Autumn/Winter wardrobe making! I spent hours trying to work out what I wanted to make first, after weeks of dreaming up new outfits then I spotted this amazing quilted jersey I got from Fashion Formula (who print your designs onto a huge range of gorgeous fabrics!) a while ago I wanted it to be on my back… now! I knew straight away that it was destined to be one of my favourite patterns – the Bella Dress – by Simple Sew of course!
This is my fourth Bella dress and I couldn’t be happier. I whizzed this up on my overlocker in a record 1.5hrs and am over the moon how well it fits and suits the fabric. I have hacked this pattern a bit – I did right from the start. I elongated and straightened out the sleeves as I’m not a fan of bell sleeves for winter – I like to keep is close and cosy. I also lengthened and tapered in the hem a bit to give it more of an hourglass figure and made the funnel neck longer so there is more to ‘roll with’ 😉 !!
I will be wearing this dress to death as it’s basically a big cosy blanket and it did double as a good Halloween make too!! Because the print is so bold and graphic it suits the simple Bella dress so well but I also have this dress in a plain blue and polkadots -it’s a really versatile Autumn/Winter staple!
I hope I inspire some more Bella’s – please do tag #simplesewbella and let us see your version!
Sew much love,
