The Wardrobe Architect’s Annabelle Dress

When the Annabelle dress came out I was desperate to make a version, especially after seeing Elle’s (Sew Positivity) lovely Christmas one. I bought some dark green velvet but then didn’t get round to sewing it up for a while.
I decided, as we are making dresses to celebrate the Dressmakers Ball, that it would be a good opportunity to finally get this dress sewn up.
It is such a lovely style and so easy to fit as there are no darts, just gathers at the neck and waist. As my velvet had some stretch I omitted any closures and it just pulls on and off. Even though velvet can be tricky, using a simple pattern like this makes it easier. Rhiannon (More Blue Fabric) has included some great tips about sewing velvet in her recent post.
I really like how comfy this is, perfect for a party with lots of food! I also want to make a more summery version as it would work well in lots of different fabrics and as a casual day dress.
